The second-generation iPad mini is reportedly in testing at Apple. The company has commissioned a Hon Hai subsidiary to supply panels that feature one glass solution (OGS) technology for the diminutive tablet, according to Patently Apple.

Citing BrightWire, a business-to-business resource for portfolio managers, the patent-centric site reveals that Hon Hai Precision Industry subsidiary Shenzhen Century Science & Technology (SCST) is likely to enter Apple’s supply chain.

SCST has one glass solution (OGS) panels in development and they’ve reportedly sent a few to Apple so that the Cupertino giant can test them out on iPad mini 2 prototype units.

SCST may team up with Chimei Innolux to become the third panel supplier for the iPad mini (in addition to LG Display and AU Optronics).

Innolux is also said to be a panel supplier for the upcoming iPhone 5S/iPhone 6, as reported by Softpedia earlier this month.

According to the rumor, “new photomasks for the iPad mini 2 have been delivered, which indicates that the pilot product is set to begin.”
