The anticipated Hyper Light Drifter role-playing game that was first spotted on Kickstarter two and a half years ago, has been finally released today on Steam.
Developer Heart Machine announced the release of Hyper Light Drifter on the last day of March 2016, bringing users a mix of action and role-playing mechanics, accompanied by a classic 2D experience many of us still love. The game offers single-player mode, Steam achievements, Steam Trading Cards, and full controller support.
"Echoes of a dark and violent past resonate throughout a savage land, steeped in treasure and blood. Hyper Light Drifter is an action adventure RPG in the vein of the best 16bit classics, with modernized mechanics and designs on a much grander scale," reads the game's Steam page.
The requirements for playing this game are pretty low, so it should be functional on almost any GNU/Linux system that runs either SteamOS or Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) or later, with at least a 1.2 GHz processor, 4GB RAM, 2GB free disk space, and a graphics card with 512MB video memory or more.
The game has been released today, March 31, 2016, on Steam for Linux, Mac, and Windows, and it's currently sold at a special price of 17.99€ or $17.99, depending on your location in the world. It looks like it's been welcomed by the gaming community very well, and we shall have an in-depth review for it very soon.
