Huawei working on the fastest fast charging features

Fast charging has been around for many years already, but Apple has only recently introduced such capabilities on the iPhone X and iPhone 8 series launched last fall.

And yet, as I noted when I reviewed the iPhone X, Apple’s new fast charging system is mostly an improvement of the company charging system and not necessarily a fast charging feature per se. It’s still slower than its sibling on Android phones like Samsung’s, and requires an adapter that’s not available in the box when you get a new iPhone.

And while Apple is believed to be working on making its fast charging faster, the other companies aren’t just waiting for Cupertino’s move.

Huawei working on new blazing fast charging

Huawei, which has often positioned itself as an Apple killer, is working on a new fast charging technology that would push things further in terms of performance. So far that it could become the new record holder when it comes to how fast a battery can be recharged.

The company’s new system has recently passed Chinese certification as Huawei Power adapter, which according to the listing would technically enable 10V at 4A. This gives us a maximum output of 40W.

Meanwhile, Apple’s 2018 iPhone generation is expected to come with improved fast charging with an output of 18W thanks to a new adapter design. This means Huawei’s technology would be more than twice as fast as Apple’s, if this data is accurate.

No other information is available right now on Huawei’s new charging system, but as things are right now, it looks like this has become a key focus for phone makers nowadays. This does make sense given that battery capacity can’t be increased with every new model, and fast charging systems could compensate for this by offering users a more convenient method to recharge their devices.
