The smartphone will be powered by Android 8.0 Oreo

The full technical specifications of the upcoming HTC U12+ Android-powered smartphone have been leaked today on Twitter by VentureBeat's Evan Blass.

Offering a liquid surface design with new pressure-sensitive buttons and a new touch feedback experience, the HTC U12+ will be powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 845 64-bit Octa-Core processor running at 2.6GHz, and will ship with 6GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB internal stoarge that can be expanded to up to 2TB with Flex Storage through memory cards.

The smartphone has a 6-inch Quad HD+ Super LCD 6 display with Corning Gorilla Glass, HDR 10 support, sRGB and DCI-P3 support, color personalization, and smart display for notifications. The screen has a 2880 x 1440 pixels resolution with 18:9 aspect ration and 537 ppi density. As expected, the HTC U12+ is IP68 certified for water and dust resistance.

To improve the photography capabilities of its devices, HTC added a more powerful dual rear camera system consisting of a 12MP f/1.75 wide-angle camera with HTC UltraPixel 4 and a 16MP f/2.6 telephoto camera. On the front, HTC U12+ features a dual 8MP f/2.0 wide-angle camera with 84 degree field of view, Bokeh mode, AR stickers, HDR Boost, Live make-up, Auto and Voice Selfie, and Selfie Panorama.

The more powerful dual rear camera feaures Ultraspeed Autofocus 2 with laser and phase detection, HDR Boost 2, Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), digital zoom up to 10x, optical zoom 1.85x to 2x, a dual LED flash, face detection, AR stickers, Panorama mode, Bokeh mode, and a Pro mode with manual controls, RAW format support, and 32-second long exposure.

The HTC U12+ will be powered by the Android 8.0 Oreo mobile operating system with the HTC Edge Sense 2 interface giving users control the smartphone or access apps by squeezing the device, hold for Smart Dim and Smart Rotate, double tab for a mini screen for one-handed use, and customizable gestures for launching the camera or voice assistant, turning of the flashlight, and more.

Connectivity-wise, HTC U12+ supports Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks with MU-MIMO, NFC, DisplayPort over USB Type-C, HTC Connect for wireless streaming, and USB 3.1 Gen 1, Type-C port for charging and data transfer.
