The flagship smartphone that all HTC fans expect

Great news for HTC fans, as the Taiwanese company plans to release another flagship smartphone in the coming months. Specs for a smartphone dubbed HTC 11 have just been leaked from China, though it's a bit hard to believe they're legit.

First of all, the screenshot leaked via Weibo and published by AndroidSoul shows it's been taken on an HTC 11 that runs Android 7.12 Nougat. Google has just released Android 7.1.2 Nougat earlier this week, and the update is only available as beta for Nexus and Pixel devices.

It's hard to believe that a HTC prototype unit would run such a new version of Android OS. On top of that, the said HTC 11 is shown running Sense 9.0 UI, which we haven't heard of until now.

Moving on to the actual hardware specs inside the HTC 11, the flagship is said to pack a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 836 processor, coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory.

The newest HTC flagship smartphone, the U Ultra, comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 CPU inside since the Taiwanese company did not have access to the newest Qualcomm chipset, the Snapdragon 835.

An odd screen aspect ratio resolution, but not unheard of

However, the handset maker said that once the chipset becomes widely available, it will announce a brand-new flagship that will be powered by the Snapdragon 835 processor.

The HTC 11 could be the flagship equipped with Snapdragon 835 chip that everyone was expecting from the company. However, this device is unlikely to make it to the market until the second half of the year.

Another interesting piece of information revealed by the leaked screenshot is the resolution of the display: 1556 x 2550 pixels. This is a rather unusual resolution for a Quad HD display, but not unheard of since the LG G6 and Samsung Galaxy S8 will feature displays with an odd resolution too: 2880 x 1440 pixels.

That's about all we know about the unannounced HTC 11, but if the Taiwanese company plans to launch another flagship smartphone in the coming months, we'll probably learn more soon.
