Intel-powered laptop now available for buyers

HP has finally launched an Intel-powered version of the Envy x2, the laptop that was first announced in late 2017 as part of the Windows 10 ARM push.

As a Microsoft partner, HP embraced the Windows 10 ARM initiative from the very beginning, announcing the Envy x2 equipped with an ARM chip. Specifically built to offer super-long battery life without making any compromise in terms of performance, the Envy x2 has experienced rather limited success, just like the other Always Connected PCs launched so far.

But also last year, HP announced that this particular laptop configuration would also receive an Intel sibling, and today the company makes this laptop available.

Basically, the two devices are nearly identical, with the only difference existing in terms of processor. While the original model was powered by the Snapdragon 835 chip built by Qualcomm, today’s version comes with an Intel Core i5-7Y54 seventh-generation chip.

Both models are equipped with 4GB RAM and 12GB storage and come with LTE for Internet connectivity on the go.

More expensive version

Somewhat surprising is that HP isn’t offering any other configuration options for the Intel-powered laptop, which is unexpected to say the least given that customers are likely to be more interested in this version. However, the 12.3-inch device is expected to benefit from better performance in Windows 10 given the Intel hardware.

In terms of pricing, the new model obviously costs more. The Always Connected PC is sold by HP for $999.99, but the exact same configuration with an Intel chip costs $1,149. The price difference is living proof that it’s simply worth paying more for better performance, and HP makes it very clear which version you should choose when looking for a new laptop.

You can purchase the device from HP’s website and sooner or later, it should become available in official stores and at retailers across the world as well.
