Microsoft is further polishing the look of Windows 10 with every new feature update, but this doesn’t necessarily mean that the operating system has reached the customization level that users expect it to reach.

There are ways to personalize Windows 10, that’s true, but on the other hand, there are plenty of other tweaks that have been around for so long yet Microsoft doesn’t want to make them part of the native OS experience.

This is the case of the centered taskbar icons, which you can enable with third-party apps like FalconX and which everybody seems to really love these days.

Someone on reddit has managed to convert the Windows 10 desktop into a minimalist experience using a series of such modifications, getting rid of things like live tiles in the Start menu and sticking with a cleaner approach that transforms the operating system into a much more modern product.

How to get this look on Windows 10

The good news is that although the whole thing looks like a concept, it’s actually the kind of customization that anybody can do with the right software. And according to this post, the apps that have been used to achieve this clean look are the following:

Additional manual changes are also needed, such as the removal of the live tiles from the Start menu. So if you do like the live tiles and can’t use Windows 10 without them, this may not necessarily be your cup of tea.

In the meantime, the next Windows 10 feature update is unlikely to bring too many changes in terms of UI, as it’s just a small release with the focus on under the hood improvements. The rollout should start next month.
