Fans of the cyberpunk universe rejoice as a new game is headed your way next month. Developer Dark Lord announced this week that their game Glitchpunk will launch into Early Access on August 11. The game will feature a single city, New Baltia, at launch, which promises to offer about eight hours of play.

Initially, the game should have included two playable cities at launch, but the folks at Dark Lord revealed that Outpost Texas will arrive in three to four weeks as Glitchpunk's first major update. The second city will add another six to eight hours of play, as per the developer's statement, and since it's coming out so close to the game's launch, players will have just enough time to explore the first city.

But wait, there's more. While the game will be in Early Access, Dark Lord will add two more cities, Neo Tokyo and Moscow. Each city has its own gangs and characters while also continuing the protagonist’s gripping story.

Glitchpunk is a cyberpunk-themed game with an old-school GTA 2 feel that plays from a top-down perspective. In Glitchpunk, players will shoot, brawl, drive, steal and sneak themselves through a neon-soaked world full of gangs and cults, forging cooperations along the way.

Of course, Glitchpunk isn’t just about blowing things up, as developers also promise to tell a compelling story of transhumanism, xenophobia, and religion. Players will be able to influence the world around them, make new friends, face off against more enemies than they can count, and even convert an enemy's aversion to affection.

Apart from brutal top-down action, Glitchpunk also features a hacking system that allows players to control the minds of pedestrians and affect various devices. The game includes many different ways of locomotion, including trains, tanks, motorbikes, buses, trucks, and tons of cars. The final version of the game will feature 12 gangs with their own stories, quests, and culture.

Last but not least, developers promise a mature story with several endings and in-game radio with music by artists from all over the world, together with news stations and absurd commercials.
