Standard Pixel shows up with no notch, edge-to-edge screen

Live photos of the standard non-XL Google Pixel 3 leaked a few hours ago, showing that the Mountain View-based firm won’t be going for a notch on at least one of its models.

While the bigger sibling would most likely embrace this design idea, the 5.5-inch Pixel 3 would stick with an 18:9 display featuring a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels, according to photos published on Reddit.

On the back, the device boasts a design that clearly reminds of the Pixel lineup, with a two-tone case, the fingerprint sensor placed in the upper side of the rear, and a bigger corner in the top left corner. There’s no dual-camera configuration on this model, and according to previous leaks, there’s a chance that the Pixel 3 XL sticks with a single-lens setup as well.

Subtle hardware upgrades

Screenshots included in the leak show that the Pixel 3 will use a Snapdragon 845 processor paired with just 4GB of RAM, which is rather surprising given that most Android phones are now making the switch to 6GB or even 8GB. Google Pixel has always been positioned as a pioneer in the Android ecosystem, so receiving only subtle upgrades is unexpected, to say the least.

Pixel 3 will run on a battery with 2915 mAh capacity which will most likely get you through the day just fine. In the camera department, it looks like more investments have been made for higher-quality selfies, as the front-facing unit features two different lenses with 8 megapixels each.

The device will sport stereo speakers and come with a USB Type-C that would support fast charging, just like its predecessor.

No details are available on pricing just yet, but Google is expected to take the wraps off the new-generation Pixel on October 9 at its annual event. Most likely, the device will become available later the same month.
