Google has recently rolled out a beta update to Google Maps for Android. Maps version 9.47 beta brings some design changes, improved timeline access and the Share button back, aside from other minor changes.

The beta update brings back the Share button, located in the set of shortcuts at the top of various detail pages, according to Android Police.

The Share button in Google Maps has moved around in past updates and while there was an option to share information by accessing the button in the overflow menu at the top right, it wasn’t very discoverable for users. The new location of the Share command is certainly easier to access.

Google also brought some changes to the Timeline section

Google certainly sees the Timeline section important for Maps users, seeing how it brought new changes to this section in the latest beta update. Google included a new padlock icon and a dropdown toggle in the Timeline section.

The change brings a bit more color and information to the Timeline section, which was previously just a single row with the date of the most recent visit. Google also brought a new overflow menu in the Your Places screen and the Visited tab.

The new menu is located next to places that you’ve visited and the command leads to the Timeline screen. Aside from these changes, Google also brought a new redesigned blue dot menu which opens a completely redesigned interface reduced to just three sections, Places near you, calibration, and reporting bugs.

The old version included your current location, suggestions of nearby places and links for locations and calibration. The new beta version has started rolling out in the Play store beta program and the changes should arrive to the stable version a bit later. Recently, Google brought favorite places list and sharing options to Maps.
