Fix is already in the works, company says

Google has officially acknowledged a bug hitting a number of Android devices and breaking Google Search.

In just a few words, the issue causes the search results page in the Google app on Android to end prematurely, so instead of seeing all results, only half of the links are actually displayed.

The rest of the page is completely blank or white, and most of the users try a refresh thinking the search results failed to load completely.

However, while it’s not yet clear how many devices are impacted, several confirmed that the issue exists on various Android devices, including those manufactured by both Samsung and Google.

“I have exactly the same problem. I have tried lot of suggestions I found on internet (clean cache, unistall google updates etc) but nothing work. Only one solution works but I dont want to do it this way. Only thing what worked was to turn off Web and App Activity in google options. But this caused lost of same google features. So I really looking for solution which works without compromises,” one user says.

Google says the fix is on its way to your Android device

Google has since acknowledged the problem, explaining that a fix is already in the works. There are no details to when it could ship this patch, but I expect it to land in the coming days.

“We're aware that for some people, our search results page might not be fully rendering. We're actively working to resolve this bug,” Google said on Twitter.

For the time being, however, there’s not much you can do. As you can see in the linked discussion thread and on reddit here, the workarounds that other affected users tried didn’t make much of a difference, as the problem showed up once again after a while.
