Google Cloud announced several new security features designed to assist both private and public enterprises in dealing with the dangers of today, according to Dark Reading.

Sunil Potti, vice president and general manager of Google Cloud Security said in a blog post that "most security products seem to focus on solving products created by other security products, rather than the root causes of the issues," Consequently, Google's method entails invisible security with technologies built into the platform, and eliminating operations as a siloed center. Recent updates include Cloud IDS, a malware detection IDS, spyware, command and control attacks, and other network threats.

Cloud IDS builds on the threat detection technology of Palo Alto networks, Potti said, adding that companies in regulated industries such as financial services, retail, and healthcare can use the product to meet compliance requirements for intrusion detection. Companies can use Cloud IDS to gain access to and from the Internet as well as east-west traffic including internal and inter-VPC (virtual private cloud) communications.

Security teams can develop unique workflows for detected risks in Google Cloud. Using security orchestration and automated response devices, they can examine and respond to attacks in their security information and event management systems (SOAR).

Google is working on new cybersecurity services

The attempt to simplify security includes the creation of Autonomic Security Operations, a new service that helps update programs for security operations. The latter comprises of drawings, integrations, technical documentation, and a company accelerator program for expanding their SOC. Google works with BT to provide its SSOs to the managed security services industry, reports the business.

Google is offering new services along with its enterprise-based solutions to help U.S. government companies protect themselves against security risks and comply with a recent executive order to improve federal cybersecurity. Zero Trust Evaluation and Planning by the Professional Services Group of Google Cloud is ready to advise governments on the culture, regulations, and technology needed to establish a zero trust framework. It is intended to implement the service in phases to promote current assets and infrastructure in the public sector.

The new Google Cloud Active Cyber Threat Detection services are designed to help government agencies analyze past and current log data. The service is delivered through Fishtech's Cyderes division and leverages the capabilities of the threat hunting, detection, and investigation platform Google Cloud.
