And the context menu inconsistency could thus be resolved

Microsoft finally has a new browser on the market, and since it’s based on Chromium, the same engine that powers Google Chrome, many people are actually wiling to give it a try.

The new Chromium-powered Microsoft Edge is obviously a massive upgrade over the legacy version, but one of the things that few people noticed is the design of the context menus in the browser.

In case you don’t think this is something that’s as important as any other feature in Edge, you should have a look at the context menus available in Windows 10.

It’s a well-known thing that Windows 10 has a consistency problem, and the OS actually comes with way too many different context menu designs right now. And while for many this isn’t necessarily a problem, it’s something that IT pros obviously don’t like in an operating system that’s supposed to be modern from one end to another.

The consistency everybody wants

Edge itself comes with good-looking context menus that align with this modern push, and someone came up with the good idea of expanding them to Windows 10 too. In other words, the context menu design that’s used in Edge should be used in Windows 10 as well, something that actually makes sense since the new app is now the default browser in the operating system.

Furthermore, this context menu design could make everything more consistent in Windows 10 and thus address the issue that I told you about earlier.

Of course, it’s much harder to achieve this consistency in an operating system as compared to a browser, but given Microsoft is working so hard on getting Windows 10 right, this should really become a priority in the short term.

For now, this is just good feedback, with no such change in sight. But if Microsoft cares about consistency, checking out such suggestions is something the company should definitely do.
