The GNOME Project announced today the general availability of the second and final point release of the GNOME 3.32 "Taipei" desktop environment for all Linux-based operating systems.

Coming a month after the first point release, GNOME 3.32.2 is here to add a final touch of bug and security fixes, miscellaneous improvements, and translation updates to various of GNOME's core apps and components. Being a stability release, GNOME 3.32.2 is recommended to all users running the latest GNOME 3.32 desktop environment.

"Another month, another bugfix release. GNOME 3.32.2 is now available. This is a stable release in the 3.32 series, all distributions shipping GNOME 3.32 are encouraged to upgrade," said Abderrahim Kitouni on behalf of the GNOME Release Team. "The [GNOME] 3.32 Flatpak runtimes on Flathub have been updated as well."

GNOME 3.34 desktop environment coming this fall

While GNOME 3.32.2 is the final point release in the GNOME 3.32 "Taipei" series of the acclaimed desktop environment for Linux-based operating systems, the GNOME Project says that the Flatpak runtimes will still be updated, so we guess this is the prefered method to install the latest GNOME release on your GNU/Linux distribution.

The GNOME 3.32.2 packages should soon make their way into the stable software repositories of your favorite distro, so make sure you install them as soon as they're available. Those of you who want to compile GNOME 3.32.2 can use either the official BuildStream project snapshot or the source packages. To see what's new in GNOME 3.32.2, check out the changelog.

The GNOME Project is already working on the next major release of their open-source and free desktop environment, GNOME 3.34, which is scheduled for release later this fall on September 11th. Development of the GNOME 3.34 "Thessaloniki" desktop environment series already kicked off last month and a second development milestone will be ready for public testing later this month.
