14 DAY TRIAL // Google Camera’s Night Sight official app has been ported for Honor Play, Huawei Mate 10, and Huawei Mate 10 Pro.
There is no doubt that Night Sight is one of the best features through the Google Camera, and all users that don’t have a Google Pixel phone are envious at this particular option. And it’s for good reason because Night Sight is that good.
For those of you who don’t know yet, Night Sight is an option in Google Camera, available now for all supported Pixel phones, that gives users a great tool to take pictures on low light conditions. Using a combination of HDR and powerful computation algorithms, the end result is spectacular. Oftentimes, the images have more light in than the actual scene.
Ports incoming
Porting just the Night Sight option is not possible since it’s part of the Google Camera app. So, developers have to port the entire application, which is not easy given the complexity. To make things worse, the app is optimized for specific hardware, and making it work on other SOC solution is an entirely different challenge.
Famous developer Arnova8G2, who’s been responsible for a number of other high profile ports, managed to get it working on Honor Play, Huawei Mate 10, and Huawei Mate 10 Pro.
From what the other users have reported until now, it seems to have a much easier time running on older version of Android. And the EMUI 9 is not helping matters. EMUI does come with a ton of interesting features, but it also complicates matters for ports.
Running this port on newer Huawei phones is not working, and it’s not a stable experience even on the devices that should be able to run it.
