The developers added the support in one of the updates

SNOW is a new free-to-play open world winter game that's developed and published by Poppermost Productions. The developers have also added Linux support in their latest patch.

SNOW is a one-of-a-kind game, and there aren't any other open world winter titles out there. It's actually surprising that this hasn't occurred to other developers, but SNOW has the privilege of being first. Also, developers have added Linux support in one of their updates, which is a really nice Touch.

In fact, SNOW didn't start as a free-to-play game, but the developers from Poppermost Productions changed their model while the game is still in the Early Access. This also means that the game is not yet available in a stable form, but the reaction from the community seems to be positive enough.

Linux version is still experimental

The developers have explained that it should work for Linux users, but it doesn't mean that it's going to work great. They have improved the game quite a bit already, and they are also investigating a problem that prevents users from starting the game from the Play button.

“We are aware of the client not launching via the 'Play' button inside Steam. This is seemingly caused by a problem with the Steam overlay process injection, we have reached out to Valve in order to find a solution,” the developers wrote in their latest Steam entry.

They have also listed a method of playing SNOW if you're using a Linux machine. It's not all that difficult, and anyone can do it:

1. Open the SNOW installation directory in your Files application or navigate to it via the terminal; 2. Users need to create a new text file called "Steam_appid.txt" with the contents "244930"; 3. Run the "BinLinux64gcc/playSNOW" binary from the terminal.

Most likely, this issue will be solved soon, and there won't be a need for workarounds.
