Dotemu, the developer and publisher of retro games such as Streets of Rage 4, Ys Origin, Final Fantasy, Another World, Double Dragon and Heroes of Might and Magic III HD has just been acquired by Focus Home Interactive.

Focus Home Interactive confirmed today that it has signed a contract for the acquisition of 77.5% of the share capital of France-based Dotemu. The deal announced today is expected to be closed in September. Also, under the agreement, Dotemu will benefit from Focus Home Interactive’s operational and financial structure in terms of communication, production monitoring, marketing and support functions to accompany its growth plan.

The arrival of Dotemu marks a key step in the acceleration of the Group's growth and in the diversification of its expertise. By enriching our editorial line, we are opening up a new revenue stream and new market shares to conquer in a fast-growing sector,” said Christophe Nobileau, CEO of Focus Home Interactive.

Currently, Dotemu is working on pop culture licenses such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and will publish Metal Slug Tactics, which is developed by Leikir Studio. In addition to getting a powerful retro-style games developer, Focus Home Interactive is also acquiring technical capabilities for the production of indie games.

Dotemu’s teams will be able to provide bigger and better indie games to Focus Home Interactive’s publishing label The Arcade Crew, which is responsible for productions such as The Last Spell and Dark Devotion.

While continuing its activities, this new collaboration will allow Dotemu to benefit from the incontestable expertise of Focus Home Interactive's teams for the production of AA titles and therefore launch the production of future remakes or sequels on licenses of first-generation 3D consoles,” added Cyrille Imbert, CEO of Dotemu.

According to the deal, Cyrille Imbert will remain CEO and shareholder of Dotemu with 22.5% of the capital. He will also join the Executive Committee of Focus Home Interactive Group, the company announced.
