This certainly isn’t the best time to launch a new device, but the almost Google-owned Fitbit is apparently readying a new smart tracker that could go live in the coming weeks.
The Fitbit Charge 4 made its way to the website of British retailer MobileFun, with the listing also revealing a bunch of details about what to expect on this new activity tracker.
By the looks of things, the Fitbit Charge 4 will remain a device specifically focused on monitoring workarounds, and despite borrowing some smartwatch capabilities, it’ll remain a completely different beast from the likes of Versa and Ionic.
The MobileFun listing indicates that new model would be offered with heart-rate tracking, fitness and sleep tracking, Bluetooth for easy connection to the smartphone, and water-resistance (albeit no information is offered on the IP rating).
Fitbit Pay support
As for the smartwatch capabilities, the Fitbit Charge 4 will obviously support smartphone notifications and NFC support, which means you’ll be able to use it for payments via Fitbit Pay.
Fitbit has allegedly equipped the new tracker with a battery that offers up to 7 days per charge, but as always, this is something that remains to be determined after the device launches.
Fitbit wants to launch the Charge 4 in several different colors called Black, Rosewood, and Storm Blue/Black. A special edition model is also planned, it seems, and it’ll be offered in a Granite body.
As for the pricing, if the MobileFun listing is accurate, then the Charge 4 could cost some £139.99 in the United Kingdom, which for our American reads means about $160. The special-edition Granite model will be available for £159.99 ($185).
Fitbit is expected to announce the full details of new activity tracker in the coming weeks, including pricing information for each country where it goes on sale.
