Microsoft to begin testing the next feature update

Now that Microsoft has already shipped the Windows 10 May 2020 Update, or version 2004, the company can start focusing on the next feature update for its operating system.

And by the looks of things, Microsoft has already compiled the first builds of Windows 10 version 2009, which is projected to land in the fall of this year, possibly as November 2020 Update.

Windows 10 build 20133.1000 has recently been spotted online, and while it’s not yet available for testing, it’s a sign that Microsoft is accelerating the work in this regard and could bring a build to users in the Windows Insider program in the coming weeks.

Microsoft itself confirmed recently that the first build previewing the next Windows 10 feature update could arrive for insiders by the end of this month, so I’m guessing this release is just around the corner now.

What’s next for Windows 10?

According to Microsoft’s typical release calendar, the next feature update for Windows 10 is version 2009, which is likely to launch as November 2020 Update. This won’t be a major release, as Microsoft will probably focus on polishing the experience with the OS and improve  the stability even further in a way that’s similar to the approach used for the November 2019 Update.

In other words, after the massive Windows 10 May 2020 Update, the November 2020 Update is likely to focus on minor improvements, with a new large update to then land in the spring of the next year.

The first builds for Windows insiders will go live sometime soon, and we’ll figure out more about what’s to come in version 2009 as the development advances, most likely during the summer. This feature update is supposed to be finalized in September and then shipped to users in November.
