The debut of the phone could happen next month

Samsung is one of the companies committed to bringing fingerprint sensors into the screen of its phones, and by the looks of things, the first product launch is just around the corner.

While it was originally believed that the Galaxy S10 might be the first Samsung phone with such technology, it appears that the South Korean firm is planning a different approach.

Recent reports coming from China indicate that Samsung wants to launch a Galaxy phone there as soon as next month, and there’s a chance that it may feature a fingerprint sensor embedded in the display.

A tweet posted by @MMDDJ_, who has previously leaked info on other Samsung products as well, reveals that the device may be called Samsung Galaxy P1. The debut could take place in October, the tweet continues.

In a separate tweet, the same leakster indicates that “Samsung may use UD fingerprint on new smartphone for China market,” without actually sharing any details. It’s not yet known whether the two reports are related to each other, but if they are, this means that the Samsung Galaxy P1 could be the first phone of the South Korean firm with a fingerprint sensor under the screen.

More confusing is that the rumored October launch aligns with the debut of another major Samsung project that the company itself confirmed earlier this year.

The firm wants to take the wraps off its first foldable phone next month as well, though it’s not clear if it also wants to begin sales this fall as well. Previous rumors in this regard pointed out that sales of this model would only start in the first quarter of 2019.

A fingerprint sensor embedded into the glass is also expected to make its way to the Galaxy S10, also due in early 2019. However, the S10 is all but confirmed to have such technology, though this makes sense by all means given that it’s Samsung’s flagship marking the 10th anniversary of the model.
