A new version of Firefox is now live for all platforms

Mozilla has released a new version of Firefox browser, this time addressing some problems on older Windows operating systems.

The new Firefox is 95.0.2, and it comes only a few days after another revision to version 95 shipped with critical fixes for Windows users.

This time, Mozilla says it resolved crashes hitting Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1, so in theory, if you’re running Windows 10 or Windows 11, there’s nothing that’s specifically aimed at your browser in this release.

“Addresses frequent crashes experienced by users with C/E/Z-Series "Bobcat" CPUs running on Windows 7, 8, and 8.1,” Mozilla explains.

Firefox 95 improvements

Other than that, Mozilla Firefox 95.0.2 is the second minor revision to Firefox 95, though it goes without saying you should still install this new release as soon as possible on your device.

Firefox 95 came with some pretty big changes, including the debut of Firefox on the Microsoft Store on Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Mozilla was one of the first companies to applaud Microsoft for its change of mind and the updated Microsoft Story policy that allows browsers to use their own engines. As a result, Firefox is now live on the Microsoft Store as well.

Firefox 95 also came with improved resource usage, while also enabling Site Isolation for all users.

“We’ve reduced CPU usage on macOS in Firefox and WindowServer during event processing. We’ve also reduced the power usage of software decoded video on macOS, especially in fullscreen. This includes streaming sites such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video,” Mozilla said.

“You can now move the Picture-in-Picture toggle button to the opposite side of the video. Simply look for the new context menu option Move Picture-in-Picture Toggle to Left (Right) Side. To better protect Firefox users against side-channel attacks such as Spectre, Site Isolation is now enabled for all Firefox 95 users.”
