A couple of months after the launch of FIFA 19, Electronic Arts launched the fifth update for the game, improving the gameplay and fixing some bugs.

While it might not seem like it, FIFA 19 is a really complex game. It’s a sports sim, which usually means interactions between players and AI, and that result in scenarios that were never imagined by the users.

The only way to fix these problems is by addressing them after the launch, and after millions of people have already played the game. Balancing issues are always present, especially in competitive games, so a high number of patches is a good thing, at least for these types of games.

What’s new?

Unimaginatively named FIFA 19 Title Update #5, this latest update fixes a very important shooting mechanic that could have been used to score goals more easily.

“We have seen the feedback coming from the community that the effectiveness of first-time finesse shots was too high. In a previous title update, we had made adjustments to reduce the effectiveness of first-time finesse shots where the ball was being received by the player from behind. In this title update, we continue to make adjustments to shooting, reducing the effectiveness of first-time finesse shots where the lateral ball velocity is high,” wrote the developers.

In fact, EA goes in a very exhaustive explanation of the change, which is not something that they usually do, but they needed to make sure that people understand why this modification was made.

A second important fix is related to the Elastico Skill Move, which is now performed much tighter, allowing for greater control of the ball. Of course, as usual, there is no agreement when it comes to the community, and a lot of users are still saying on the official forums that many other aspects need to be corrected.

It’s very likely that new patches are on their way, but it remains to be seen if the community will listen to. For now, the update is available only on PCs, but consoles should get it very soon.
