The phone was sent from the UK to the US

Huawei is no longer allowed to work with American companies and use their products, as per the United States government order signed by President Donald Trump in mid-May.

And while the company has received a 90-day reprieve on the ban, putting Huawei on the blacklist has changed the way American firms do business not only in the country, but also worldwide.

Living proof is shipping company FedEx, which has recently refused to ship a Huawei P30 from the United Kingdom to the United States due to the ban.

The folks over at PCMag say they were trying to send a used Huawei P30 Pro to the United States for some testing, but the shipping was blocked – of particular note is that the ban does not concern devices already on the market, but those that launch after the order was signed.

Package sent back the same day

The package was actually shipped from London to Indianapolis, but it was sent back after approximately five hours. A label on the package reads the following:

“Parcel returned by FedEx, due US government issue with Huawei and China government.”

A FedEx customer service agent told PCMag the same thing when being asked for more information on why the phone was returned to London.

“On May 16, 2019, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. and 68 of its global affiliates were included on the 'Entity List' which sets out a list of certain entities that US companies are restricted from doing business with. My apologies for the inconvenience this has caused you,” the agent said.

Interestingly, this is an approach that only FedEx is using. Rival UPS seems to have no issue to ship Huawei phones worldwide.

“There is not a general ban on shipping Huawei devices between United Kingdom and United States locations,” a UPS spokesperson was quoted as saying by the same source.
