We are currently investigating, site owner says

The FBI and the United States Department of Justice seized the Internet domain name weleakinfo.com after investigators discovered the website hosted at this address was selling information obtained from data breaches.

WeLeakInfo.com sold subscriptions for as low as $2 to anyone interested in accessing hacked account data, including usernames and passwords.

The cheapest subscription was available for $2 and offered 24 hours website access, unlimited searches and “advanced” search features. On the other hand, the “simple” subscription level increased website access to 1 week. One month website access was available for $25, while for $70 subscribers could get access to the data exposed in the breaches for 3 months.

FBI says the website was hosting more than 12 billion indexed records from over 10,000 data breaches, including names, email addresses, phone numbers, usernames, and passwords.

Subscribers asking for refunds (probably not going to happen)

The investigators seized the domain and placed a banner to inform visitors the website is no longer available as per the court order.

“With execution of the warrant, the seized domain name – weleakinfo.com – is now in the custody of the federal government, effectively suspending the website’s operation. Visitors to the site will now find a seizure banner that notifies them that the domain name has been seized by federal authorities. The U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia issued the seizure warrant,” the FBI says.

Interestingly, WeLeakInfo site owners weren’t aware of the FBI investigation and themselves were surprised to see the domain seized by the feds.

“We are currently investigating this issue,” they said in a short tweet following messages received from users. The WeLeakInfo status page is obviously down after the FBI seized the domain.

WeLeakInfo subscribers are now reaching out to site administrators for refunds, albeit for the time being, no response has been offered in this regard.
