14 DAY TRIAL // GIANTS Software revealed today that the next installment in the Farming Simulator series will feature cross-platform multiplayer support. Although Farming Simulator is typically a game that most of us plan to play solo, there are times when you wished you’d be able to invite your friends to farm together.
Farming Simulator fans have been requesting this specific feature for quite some time, so we’re happy to report that the folks at GIANTS Software finally managed to implement cross-platform multiplayer in their upcoming game.
“The successful implementation of crossplay marks a major advancement for the multiplayer experience in the now self-published Farming Simulator series. With the series becoming more and more popular around the world, and the fan base growing on PC and consoles alike, we can now connect virtual farmers without restrictions. Cooperative farming evolves!” said Boris Stefan, Head of Publishing at GIANTS Software.
Cross-play is supported by Farming Simulator 22 on PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia, so just about every gaming platform out there with one exception, Nintendo Switch.
Thanks to crossplay, virtual farmers will be able to play Farming Simulator 22 together, regardless of their preferred system. It’s important to mention that if the server host is hosting from a PC, up to 16 players can play together, including players on consoles. However, if using a game console to host the server, only up to 6 players can play together in total.
Keep in mind that when playing on a dedicated server hosted by Nitrado, you’ll be able to play with 15 other players on the same server, regardless of the players’ systems. Just like PC players, console players can rent and host their own servers via Nitrado.
Last but not least, if you’re worried that other players might be better at the game because they use mouse and keyboard, it’s possible to use filters to avoid crossplay servers so that you can play only with console players.
