It's not the Fallout we wanted, but it's what we go

Bethesda finally explained what Fallout 76 is all about, and it looks like the previous leaks were correct. It’s an online-only FPS that promises multiplayer in the Fallout world.

The gaming community wasn't all that happy when Fallout 76 was initially revealed, although people had some reservations. It’s been only two years and some change since the release of Fallout 4, so getting a new game in the series so quickly looked and felt suspicious.

Soon after that, some leaks unveiled that it’s actually an online game in the spirit of Rust, for example, and the balloon popped. Now, we finally have some official information from Bethesda, and the situation is not as bleaks as we initially thought.

It’s mix of everything

Bethesda explained that while Fallout 76 is an online game, nothing is stopping you from exploring it on your own. On the other hand, they did underline the fact that it’s mostly built to enjoy with friends, to build bases, and to prevent other players from invading them.

Furthermore, the map in the new game is four times bigger than in Fallout 4, and that would translate in a lot of ground to cover. It takes place somewhere in West Virginia, but that’s pretty much what we know about it.

Another important question, which hasn’t been answered just yet, is the implementation of the VATS system. Technically, it’s impossible to respect the way it’s been used until now because it’s online. It’s impossible to slow down time for VATS to work, and it’s probably the reason why Bethesda has failed to mention it or show it in action in the trailer.

In any case, Fallout 76 is expected to arrive on November 14th, 2018, at least on PC and Xbox One. Since the presentation was made at the Microsoft conference, there was no mention of PlayStation 4.
