14 DAY TRIAL // Fall Guys, the platform battle royale game, is going free-to-play next month, developer Mediatonic announced today. Jellybean fans will be able to download the game for free on just about every gaming platform currently available, including PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC (via Epic Games Store).
From June 21, whether you’re on any of the gaming platforms mentioned above (or a mix of all of the above), you’ll be able to play Fall Guys for free. More importantly, the game will feature cross-play, cross-platform parties and cross-progression fully supported with the use of Epic Games Account.
Additionally, Mediatonic announced that PlayStation and Steam players who already own a copy of Fall Guys will continue to receive all the usual updates. However, new players will no longer be able to download Fall Guys on Steam, so they’ll have to get it from the Epic Games Store.
PlayStation 5 owners will be happy to know that a new version of Fall Guys will launch at the same time as the Nintendo Switch, Xbox and PC versions, which is supposed to bring faster load times and other performance upgrades.
Last but not least, Mediatonic will offer a new Legacy Pack to everyone that purchased and played Fall Guys before the June 21 launch, as thanks to all players that supported the game. The free pack contains a nickname, nameplate, the Regal costume, the Veggie Dog costume, the Feisty Dwarf costume, and a Season Pass for Season 1.
The first season of Fall Guys after going free-to-play will be much bigger than any of the previous seasons released until now. First off, Season 1 will be available for purchase with a new in-game currency called Show-Bucks. The Season Pass will allow players to earn new costumes and other unlockables.
The Season Pass will include 100 levels to unlock at launch, alongside the ability to unlock the next Season Pass for players who max out their current one. Fall Guys players who don’t get a Season Pass will be able to benefit from the free progression path available to everyone.
