Counterfeit iPhone 14 cases spotted in China

As per the company’s typical release calendar, Apple should theoretically take the wraps off a new iPhone generation at some point in September.

And given we’re some two months away from the moment the big unveiling is scheduled to take place, it makes sense to come across all kinds of information about the new devices.

And this week, Apple watcher DuanRui has shared on Twitter what seem to be a series of cases specifically designed for the upcoming iPhone 14 lineup.

The cases are aimed at the iPhone 14, the all-new iPhone 14 Max, the iPhone 14 Pro, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

And while they appear to be genuine Apple cases, they are not. They’re just counterfeit iPhone 14 cases that would most likely sell in China for a couple of dollars.

And while fake iPhone 14 cases aren’t necessarily of big interest, the discovery is actually a sign that accessory manufacturers out there know precisely how the upcoming iPhone 14 lineup is going to look. For instance, these cases confirm that an all-new iPhone 14 Max is coming, with the iPhone mini to therefore be ditched.

Of course, we shouldn’t necessarily take such information for granted, especially as not all accessory makers have access to this kind of details regarding an upcoming Apple product.

The Cupertino-based tech giant handles the access to upcoming iPhone debuts very carefully, so a generic Chinese accessory maker is unlikely to know for sure what models would launch as part of a specific new-generation device.

More sources, however, seem to suggest that the iPhone mini is going away, with Apple to therefore introduce an all-new iPhone 14 Max that would sport a 6.7-inch display. The company could kill off the notch on the Pro models, as these devices might feature a punch-hole design.
