The new section brings trending posts and videos

The fact that Facebook constantly works on new features to introduce to its users is no surprise. The platform is one of the main sources of news and entertainment for many people, and Facebook is currently rushing towards reaching 2 billion users worldwide.

Aside from its News Feed, Facebook is preparing a new section that would provide you with content on various topics. In fact, the new section is called Start Exploring and it’s “a new feed of posts about topics that may interest you,” according to Phoebe Venkat, part of Facebook’s Help Team.

The new icon has been spotted on Facebook for iOS, right between the News Feed and video icons. On Android, the new section is located between the News Feed and Friend Requests icon. Interestingly, it’s represented by a rocket icon, suggesting that you could get access to interesting posts fast.

Facebook is testing the section among a limited number of users

The Start Exploring feature has currently rolled out to a number of Facebook users, but it’s not available on the desktop version. It will probably see a launch on all platforms once it’s ready and stable.

The section appears to provide users with trending posts and videos, but there doesn’t seem to be a connection with pages or content that you’ve previously liked. Instead, the Start Exploring section appears to provide trending content, thus being a good option for users who wish to get up to date with the latest news or want to see which cat video is currently the most watched.

The section has news articles, but also entertainment content from pages that users hadn’t previously liked or followed. Facebook is currently testing the new Start Exploring section with a number of Android and iOS users, but joining Facebook’s Beta Tester group on the Play store isn’t a guarantee that the feature will be available to you.

Hopefully, it won’t be long until Facebook makes the Start Exploring section available to all users.
