One of the most eagerly-anticipated moments for smartphone fans this year is the release of Apple’s new models, which as per the company’s typical product launch schedule, are expected to see daylight in September.

Just like in 2017, the Cupertino-based tech giant plans to take the wraps off three different devices, each with a different purpose, but also with exclusive features that would help tackle other customer sectors.

Basically, according to all the rumors that have made the rounds lately, Apple’s 2018 iPhone lineup will include a 5.8-inch iPhone X successor, a 6.1-inch LCD iPhone, and a 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus. Let’s take them all one at a time and see what they are supposed to bring to the market.

2018 iPhone X

First and foremost, Apple will unveil an upgraded iPhone X this year that would feature only subtle improvements as compared to the existing model.

The look of the 2018 version will be pretty similar with the one of the current generation, and while it was believed that Apple could make bezels slimmer and make the switch to triple-lens camera, that’s not going to happen.

Instead, the new iPhone X will look nearly entirely as the old iPhone X, and there’s a chance that the upgrade would only take place under the hood.

Expect a new processor paired with 3GB RAM, though it’s believed that Apple could also upgrade the new iPhone X to 4GB RAM. Rumor has it, however, that 4GB RAM may be an exclusive feature to the iPhone X Plus.

Additionally, a new storage option could be introduced with this upgraded model, as Apple may begin offering up to 512GB storage on the iPhone. This would certainly be a welcome improvement given iPhones come with no microSD card support.

Upgraded cameras and more software refinements for better photos are obviously among the improvements coming to this year’s iPhone, though the changes would be most likely just subtle.

2018 iPhone X Plus

The 2018 generation will also include a 6.5-inch iPhone coming with an OLED panel. Technically, this bigger iPhone will be nearly the same as the 5.8-inch iPhone X detailed above, only that it’ll feature a larger display and possibly some exclusive features.

People familiar with Apple’s plans indicate that the Cupertino-based firm is looking into offering 4GB RAM on this bigger model. The 512GB storage option may also be exclusive to this particular model, these source said.

Just like the iPhone X, this Plus-sized configuration will boast premium features like wireless charging, Face ID facial recognition, a notch, and a glass body.

A larger battery would obviously be used. Pricing of this model could easily exceed the $1,000 mark that the original iPhone X touched for the first time last year after launch.

2018 LCD iPhone

Even though it doesn’t yet have a name, this 2018 LCD iPhone is expected to be the most affordable configuration, as Apple is specifically building it with this goal in mind.

Having a cheaper iPhone in its lineup has become a priority for Apple given that its models are getting more expensive, and the LCD model may thus undergo a cost-saving transformation for a reduced cost.

In addition to a 6.1-inch LCD screen, this particular model will come with a single lens camera and an aluminum body, as Apple would give up on glass in order to cut manufacturing costs. Additionally, it may come without 3D Touch, but instead feature Face ID facial recognition.

As compared to the iPhone X, this model might have thicker bezels as a result of using an LCD panel, as well as a slightly bigger notch to accommodate the facial recognition modules.

Pricing could start at approximately $699, with various colors also likely to be offered, including blue, green, and yellow. The device could hit the shelves later than usual, as Apple wants to give the two premium siblings some exclusive time on the market.
