Softpedia was informed by the Q4OS Team about the availability for download of the second maintenance update to the Q4OS 1.6 "Orion" series of the Debian-based operating system.

Coming two weeks after the release of Q4OS 1.6, the Q4OS 1.6.2 updated ISO images are now available for download for those who want to reinstall their Q4OS distribution or deploy the GNU/Linux operating system on new computers. As usual, it's supported on both 64-bit and 32-bit PCs, as well as Raspberry Pi single-board computers.

What's new? Not much, as this is just a small maintenance update to fix some of the issues reported by users since the previous stable build, namely Q4OS 1.6.1, as well as to incorporate the newest security and software versions released since August 28, 2016.

"Another update of Q4OS 'Orion' desktop is available, version 1.6.2 stable. It's a maintenance release of the Q4OS 1.6 'Orion' series, and it's built on and improves the previous version. There are several internal improvements, a bunch of bug fixes and security fixes included," reads today's announcement.

Users are urged to update their Q4OS systems now

As expected, the Q4OS team urges all users who are running the Q4OS 1.6 or 1.6.1 operating system on their personal computers to upgrade as soon as possible to the 1.6.2 milestone, but there's no need to download the new ISOs released today, just install all the available updates from the official software repositories.

If you're new to Q4OS Linux and you want to try out a Debian-based OS built around the Trinity Desktop Environment (TDE) project, whose aim is to keep the spirit of the old-school KDE 3.5 desktop environment alive, you can download the Q4OS 1.6.2 32- and 64-bit Live ISO images right now via our website.
