Dauntless started as a poor man's Monster Hunter, but the charming art style and the solid combat mechanics quickly made it very popular among players. After more than a year spent in beta, developer Phoenix Labs announced their game will be officially released on September 26.

Moreover, September 26 will also mark the beginning of a new chapter in Dauntless, as Phoenix Labs revealed the debut of a major new seasonal expansion called Aether Unbound. The update that will bring the game to version 1.0 will add a brand-new weapon, Behemoth, Hunt Pass, bounty system and much more.

After Dauntless launches later this month, Phoenix Labs plans to continue to add new content, seasonal updates, and Hunt Passes, which are meant to offer players a reason to keep playing the game in the coming years.

As far as the content included in the new Aether Unbound seasonal expansion, the developers confirmed the addition of a new weapon – aether strikers, which players can unleash on a powerful new Dire Behemoth and Tempestborne Stormclaw, the new monsters coming with the new season.

But that's not all, as Phoenix Labs announced Aether Unbound will offer a different way to hunt and earn valuable experience with the new bounty system, in addition to offering Slayers a new Hunt Pass packed with in-game rewards.

Meanwhile, Dauntless' latest update introduced saved loadouts, a crafting UI overhaul, improvements to transmogs, and a new exotic weapon, among other things. All these changes are meant to prepare the ground for the official entry into 1.0 on September 26.

Dauntless, the free-to-play action RPG will release later this month for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Three months ago, developer Phoenix Labs officially confirmed Dauntless will be coming to Nintendo Switch later this year, but an exact release date has yet to announced.
