Ualuncher paired with web apps feeling like home the OS

elementary OS is already one of the best distributions out there, but as any other Linux operating systems, it can be further enhanced in so many ways that are just limited by every user’s imagination.

Someone on reddit managed to mix the eye-candy looks of elementary OS (with a bunch of custom refinements) with web apps that are powered by custom userChrome.css for Firefox profiles and Ulauncher to take care of everything from the desktop.

The result is what you can see in the video embedded at the end of the article and which you can also enable for yourselves on elementary OS if you like this kind of customization.

The extra details about this awesome customization include the Ark-Dark theme and the Papyrus icon pack, all using the default elementary light theme that comes default with Ulauncher.

Super-fast app launching

The redditor who did all of this has also published the code for creating some of the web apps in this thread, including additional information on how to enable the custom Firefox settings.

Needless to say, not only that the customization itself looks good and feel just like home on elementary OS, but it also improves the usability overall – sure, it’s Ulauncher to thank to for the whole thing, but just look how fast apps like Netflix launch in the first place, and this is all thanks to the web apps that are being used for this.

YouTube also appears to be working quite smoothly, so if you’re looking for something that loads fast and only takes a few keypresses to launch, the customizations here might really come in handy.

As a matter of fact, you can do this with pretty much any web app as long as you follow the instructions published by the redditor on the page linked above.
