The Radisson Rewards program of the Radisson Hotel Group suffered a data breach on October 1 which led to the theft of personal information of an undetermined number of customers according to a data security incident notification sent to all affected clients.

Moreover, the Radisson Rewards program provides Radisson Hotel Group clients with a number of services and privileges at more than 1,100 hotels around the globe, including Radisson, Radisson Collection, Radisson Blu, Radisson RED, Park Inn by Radisson, Park Plaza, and Country Inn & Suites.

As reported by Radisson Rewards, "data security incident did not compromise any credit card or password information."

"Our ongoing investigation has determined that the information accessed was restricted to member name, address (including country of residence), email address, and in some cases, company name, phone number, Radisson Rewards member number and any frequent flyer numbers on file," also stated Radisson Rewards.

In addition, after discovering the data breach incident, Radisson Rewards blocked the unauthorized third parties who hacked into their systems to steal data and secured the accounts of all members impacted by the attack.

Radisson Rewards also flagged all affected accounts for continuous monitoring making it possible to react faster in case of unauthorized behavior on any of the accounts.

No credit card or password info was exposed in the Radisson Rewards breach

Even though according to Radisson Rewards, the crooks behind the attack have stolen sensitive information such as credit card or password information, they might still be able to attempt performing identity theft attacks targeting the exposed customers if they have enough data to do so.

Radisson Rewards is aware of this issue and that affected client "should also be aware that third parties may claim to be Radisson Rewards and attempt to gather personal information by deception (known as “phishing”), including through the use of links to fake websites."

According to Radisson Rewards breach notification, all customers that will receive the alert between October 30 and October 31 were affected by the data breach and had their information exposed.

Radisson Rewards also addressed the business members' concerns in their breach notification, saying that no "association between a Radisson Rewards for Business member and a Radisson Rewards member was exposed."
