Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, the racing game developed by Beenox and published by Activision, aims to be more than just a remake as the publisher prepares to launch a host of new content after the release of the game.

Some of the older gamers might remember that almost 20 years ago, a racing title called Crash Team Racing from the famous studio Naughty Dog was arriving on original PlayStation. It was a silly, arcade title with characters from the Crash Bandicoot series, and it made quite an impression.

Fast forward 20 years and Activision is preparing to release a remake for that game, called Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled. But the developers from Beenox and Activision want to do more than just a simple remake, so they are preparing for some extensive additional content.

More than just a remake

During the E3 2019 conference, Activision unveiled plans for all the stuff that’s going to be available after the launch, and it looks like Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is more than just a one-time single player experience. Basically, seasons are introduced into the game, each one bringing new characters.

“There will be new items and characters dropped into the game’s Pit Stop rotation each Grand Prix, including members of the Nitro Squad in the first season (formerly known as the Trophy Girls). These racers come from regions around the world and are ready to represent their countries with speed and strength! Chick and Stew also let fans know about the content they can expect in the two following Grand Prix Seasons, including the most anticipated event of the century…Spyro’s induction to CTR” reads the announcement from Activision.

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is almost upon us, and the launch date is scheduled for June 21st, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Unfortunately, the PC platform isn’t mentioned, but it’s not unlikely that the game might make it to PC at a later date.
