Developer Convoy Games and publisher Triangle Studios have just revealed Convoy: A Tactical Roguelike will be coming to consoles next month. After making its debut on PC five years ago, Convoy: A Tactical Roguelike is bringing some indie love to the consoles as well.

The FTL meets Mad Max kind of game will be released on April 8 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and it will only cost $15. Starting today, those interested will be able to pre-order the Convoy: A Tactical Roguelike on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

As mentioned earlier, this is a game that draws inspiration from games like Mad Max and FTL. Also, as the name suggests, it belongs to the roguelike genre, which means no two playthroughs will be the same.

In Convoy: A Tactical Roguelike, players will be looking for scrap parts to fix their spaceship after having crash-landed on a desert planet. However, they are not alone on the desert planet and, more importantly, most of the other residents aren't too excited to get any visitors.

So, while dealing with the three controlling factions of the planet, players will have to gather all the resources required to fix their spaceship and get the hell out of there as quickly as possible.

Now, unlike the PC version, the console game introduces new storylines and new vehicles, which should give more depth to the world of Convoy and ensure that even a re-visit to this post-apocalyptic world is bound to be a good one.

If you're new to the game, you'll want to know a few things before you decide whether or not it fits your taste. First off, combat plays out in real-time as a high-speed car chase where you need to position your units and use abilities to maximize their effectiveness.

Secondly, the game features a very rewarding exploration aspect. You will encounter many different radio signals, each with a text-based event, so if you're lucky you may be heavily rewarded with loot.

It's also worth mentioning that each unit can be upgraded and outfitted with different weapons and stats, allowing players to customize them to your needs. Since this a roguelike, each new game will feature different main and side objectives, events, choices, and different consequences to your actions. Last but not least, permadeath is at the core of Convoy: A Tactical Roguelike.
