14 DAY TRIAL // Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy S21 next month, and one of the biggest feature additions is support for the S Pen.
Information in this regard has surfaced several times in the last few months through unofficial channels, and of course, Samsung has remained completely tight-lipped about it, though the company actually dropped some hints this could actually happen.
But now we finally get a confirmation the S Pen is coming to the Galaxy S lineup thanks to FCC documents spotted by AA.
More specifically, the document confirms the Galaxy S21 Ultra would support the S Pen, while at the same time revealing that other functionality, such as support for hovering, would also make its way to this device.
“The EUT [device being tested – ed] can also be used with a stylus device (S-Pen). The EUT operates with the S-Pen in two different inductive coupling modes of S-Pen motion detection (Hover and Click)…,” the document reads.
No S Pen in the box
TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics, dropped hints earlier this month that S Pen support is coming to the Galaxy S lineup.
“While we’re already known for our revolutionary cameras, we’ll never stop trying to outdo ourselves — so be on the lookout for super-intelligent, pro-grade camera and video capabilities in 2021. We’ve also been paying attention to people’s favorite aspects of the Galaxy Note experience and are excited to add some of its most well-loved features to other devices in our lineup,” he said.
The Galaxy S21, however, won’t come with the S Pen in the box, so customers would have to purchase it separately. Most likely, Samsung will also offer bundles including an S Pen, but a dedicated slot to carry the stylus around like it’s the case on the Note won’t be available.
