CentOS developers announced today the release and immediate availability for download of the CentOS Linux 7 (1804) operating system for all supported hardware architectures.

Based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.5, CentOS Linux 7.5 (1804) is the latest and most advanced snapshot of the open-source and enterprise-ready computer operating system, available now for 32-bit (i386), 64-bit (x86_64), ARM64 (AArch64), PowerPC 64-bit Little Endian (PPC64el), PowerPC 64-bit (PPC64), and ARMhf architectures.

"I am pleased to announce the general availability of CentOS Linux 7 (1804) for across all architectures. Effectively immediately, this is the current release for CentOS Linux 7 and is tagged as 1804, derived from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.5," said project maintainer Karanbir Singh in the mailing list announcement.

What's new in CentOS Linux 7.5 (1804)

As with every new snapshot of CentOS Linux 7 series, the 7.5 release includes all the updates and security patches that have been released on the operating system's software repositories since the previous snapshot, in this case, CentOS Linux 7.4 (1708). On top of that, CentOS Linux 7.5 (1804) also comes with all the security updates from the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.5 release.

This release also features various changes to the cryptographic abilities of some of its components, as well as a newer version of the abrt that make CentOS Linux 7.5 report bugs directly to bugs.centos.org, and sees the removal of some cryptographic algorithms and protocols that are considered as non-secure for an enterprise-ready operating system like CentOS.

A complete list with all the packages that have been modified or removed from the CentOS Linux 7.5 (1804) release, packages that have been added by the CentOS devs and aren't included upstream and packages released updates with older packages on the CentOS Linux 7.5 (1804) install media, as well as known issues, can be found in the official release notes.

According to the CentOS developers, this release supersedes all previously CentOS Linux 7 content released until now. However, existing CentOS Linux 7 users with all updates to date don't need to download the new install media, but for new deployments, you can download CentOS Linux 7.5 (1804) right now through our web portal or from the official website here and here.
