In a surprising move, Sony announced it has teamed up with Activision-Blizzard to offer PS Plus members a nice surprise. Although it's not Christmas, PS Plus subscribers are getting their gifts earlier. The first PS Plus game for June is Call of Duty: WWII, one of the games that managed to revive the series when fans didn't think it was possible.

Call of Duty: WWII will be available for free to all PS Plus subscribers until July 6. According to Sony, a second title will join Call of Duty next month, but the Japanese company didn't reveal its name yet. Additional information about the other PS Plus title for June is likely to drop at some point during this week.

Developed by Sledgehammer Games, Call of Duty: WWII made its debut on PC and consoles three years ago. It's the fourteenth installment in the first-person shooter series and it's centered around a squad in the 1st Infantry Division that fights on the Western Front.

The game features both a single-player campaign and a multiplayer mode. The latter features map locations not available in the campaign though. On top of that, the multiplayer mode comes with the new Divisions system that replaces the create-a-class system from the previous games in the series.

Although it's a three-year-old game, Call of Duty remains one of the iconic franchises in the gaming industry, and when it's offered for free, it usually happens on special occasions. Well, this time Sony had other plans, so let's take what's been given and enjoy it like it's Christmas.

Those who aren't paying for a PS Plus subscription yet, but would like to start this week, may want to add the PS Plus games for May. Cities: Skylines and Farming Simulator 19 are still available to PS Plus members for free until June 1.
