Apple’s decision to remove the charger from the box of new iPhones is causing massive problems in Brazil.

After the Ministry of Justice issued a ruling in September to suspend the sales of new iPhones in the country because they do not include a charger, the local authorities turned to plan B earlier this week as a result of Apple not complying with the requirements.

As a result, the police seized hundreds of iPhones from retail stores in an attempt to force Apple to comply with the ruling or stop selling the device in the country completely.

The local media is reporting that the whole thing happened in the capital of Brazil as part of an operation called “Operation Discharge.”

On the other hand, Apple doesn’t believe that banning the sales of new iPhones is something that should happen right now. The company claims that it should be allowed to keep its smartphones in stores until a final ruling is given, as it doesn’t believe that the current order issued by the Ministry of Justice is legal.

While the company has appealed to the decision, it also wants to continue selling iPhones in Brazil. In other words, despite the police seizing iPhones from local stores, the Cupertino-based tech giant has no intention to stop selling the smartphone locally, even if the device does not comply with the official requirements and does not include a charger in the box.

Apple first shipped an iPhone without a power adapter in the box when it launched the iPhone 12, but the company later decided to do the same thing for the iPhone 11 as well. Since then, all new iPhones come without a charger – most recently, the company has also pulled the headphones from the box, therefore shipping the smartphone only with a data cable.
