14 DAY TRIAL // Blade Runner, the classic adventure game based on Ridley Scott’s sci-fi movie, recently received the remaster treatment. Thanks to Nightdive Studio, in partnership with Alcon Interactive, Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition is now available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch consoles. Additionally, the game will get an exclusive console physical release from Limited Run Games.
The cult game was originally released in 1997 by Westwood Studios and it’s been favorable received by both the players and media. The remastered version includes numerous improvements, including reconstructed and upscaled to 4K resolution and 60 fps videos, along with new features such as modern HD display, keyboard and gamepad support, as well as a new KIA clue interface.
Developers have also sourced the original foreign-language translations, offering fans the game in Spanish, German, French, Italian, and Chinese subtitles. The remastered version was made possible by Nightdive’s proprietary KEX game engine, which was also used to revitalize an impressive number of classic titles including System Shock: Enhanced Edition, Turok, Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, Blood, and Shadow Man: Remastered.
“Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition has been a labor of love for the Nightdive team, and one of our most requested and revered titles yet. We're excited to finally share our game with fans; we expect that they'll be very pleased,” said Nightdive CEO Stephen Kick.
Specialized in reviving old games, Nightdive Studios have become some sort of experts when it comes to video game restorations. Thanks to the studio’s KEX engine, fans should expect the remaster to honor the original look and feel of the seminal 1997 game.
Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition is now available for purchase for just $10 regardless of platform. The physical Standard and Collector’s Edition of Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch consoles are now available for pre-order.
