14 DAY TRIAL // If you’re in the market looking for a new Windows 10 antivirus, the security experts over at AV-TEST have conducted a new research to determine the products that are most effective when it comes to blocking malware without slowing down your computer.
And as it turns out, there are three different companies whose products topped the charts, namely Avira, Kaspersky, and McAfee, as their security solutions obtained the maximum of six out of six points in the three tests for protection, performance, and usability.
There are several other antivirus solutions that nearly got the maximum score, including here Avast Free Antivirus, AVG Internet Security, Bitdefender Internet Security, and Symantec Norton Security, all of which have received a total rating of 17.5 points.
Comodo Internet Security and PC Pitstop PC Matic got the lowest score with just 15.5 points, as each has failed to impress in various tests.
Kaspersky’s antivirus engine
Worth highlighting is the performance of Kaspersky Internet Security, which has been at the top of the pack for many months already, and as it turns out, there’s no reason to believe this is going to change.
Kaspersky’s product scored 6 points in each of the three tests, with flawless performance in the protection tests. Kaspersky Internet Security blocked 100 percent of 0-day malware attacks and detected all samples of malware discovered in the last 4 weeks.
It produces only a small slowdown on the Windows 10 systems it runs, with AV-TEST saying it noticed a 21 percent performance impact during browsing on a standard PC and 16 percent on a high-end PC.
When it comes to usability, Kaspersky’s security app returned no false warnings when visiting websites, and never incorrectly flagged a legitimate program as malware during a system scan.
