Bad news for RPG fans, as Larian Studios has just confirmed that Baldur's Gate 3 is not going to make it to Early Access this month. On the flip side, the studio revealed that fans of the genre won't have to wait too long to try out the game.

As of today, Baldur's Gate 3 Early Access release is scheduled for October 6th, just one week later than it was previously announced. The reason behind the delay is the number of translations that still need to be done to ensure localization for the Early Access languages that were initially announced.

Larian put up a message for fans where it explains why it decided to delay the launch of the game by a week. You can read below the most important parts of Larian's statement:

Our guiding principle for early access is that it's fine for there to be smaller bugs of a few things that are lacking polish, but it needs to offer a fun gameplay experience with as few crashes as possible.

We're nearly there but we had a few unexpected delays, and we still have some stability issues we're sifting through. Because of the delays, our translations are also later than expected and we want to ensure localization for the announced Early Access languages is strong enough for our international fans to have a good time.

Thankfully, a week's delay (to October 6th) is all we expect to need to triple check stability and triple check localization. We say 'expect' because the game still has to pass the 'World Tester.' Early Access is going to launch on October 6th on Stadia, Steam, and GOG. It is. It really is.

Although Baldur's Gate 3 will enter Early Access in October, the game has a long way to go before the final version will be ready for prime time. We hope for a late 2021 release, but that seems a bit of a stretch considering the size of the project.
