ASUS unveiled the ROG Phone II, the second generation of smartphones designed for gamers that feature some insane specs.

It’s true that most modern, high-end devices are probably good enough to pass as gaming phones, but this function is almost an afterthought. People can use them to play games on them, but it’s not the reason why they buy them.

In the past couple of years, the smartphone industry started to take a much closer look at the gaming market as something to target directly with products, and ASUS is just one of the companies that built dedicated phones.

No compromise, everything’s better

ROG is the Republic of Gamers brand from ASUS, and they don’t slap it on everything. The company has other smartphones that are not available under this brand even if they do have powerful hardware.

According to an XDA report, the new ASUS ROG Phone II will be on the first phones to ship with the upcoming Snapdragon 855 Plus platform, which is not surprising given the target audience.

The phone will also feature a 6.6-inch (19.5:9) 120Hz-capable FHD+ AMOLED display, which means that it can perform at that refresh rate, but only if the user chooses to, and if the game has support for it. BY default, ROG Phone II will run at 60Hz, which can’t be ignored.

Also, the phone comes with 12GB of RAM, 512GB UFS 3.0 storage, and a 3D vapor chamber cooling system. More importantly, the gaming smartphone will feature a massive, which should be able to run PUBG for 7 hours, at least according to ASUS.

As a nice bonus, the phone has a second charging port on the side to help users charge the phone while playing in landscape mode. Furthermore, it’s going to ship with a 3.5mm headphone jack, and an Android 9-based operating system.

The cherry on top is a large number of available accessories, like a gamepad, various cases, docks, and even an active cooler.

The international launch should be on July 23, but there is no indication regarding the price. An ASUS-Tencent event is scheduled for today, and we’ll know more by then.
