The device could be announced the next month

Apple is expected to announce the new-generation Apple Watch next month, and one of the most anticipated models continues to be the Pro version.

Rumors of Apple preparing an Apple Watch Pro surfaced a long time ago, as people familiar with the matter said the Cupertino-based tech giant was working on an upgraded smartwatch specifically focused on health and tracking.

The Apple Watch Pro would therefore be a direct competitor to Garmin smartwatches, though it’s not yet clear if any exclusive health features are planned or not.

However, previous reports on the Apple Watch Pro indicated that Apple was working on a temperature sensor, though the later rumors suggested the same hardware would make its way to the standard Apple Watch Series 8 as well.

Launch next month

A recent story from Macotakara confirms the work on an Apple Watch Pro, revealing that the device is very likely to come in a 47mm form factor. In other words, the new model would be larger than the biggest Apple Watch, though on the other hand, the size is likely to be a result of the bigger case as well.

The device is expected to sport a screen that measures nearly 2 inches, though the biggest change is likely to be the flat design.

First planned for the Apple Watch Series 7, the flat design aligns the smartwatch with the new-generation iPhones, as it gives up on the rounded edges for flat ones, just like on the smartphone. Right now, it looks like the flat design will be exclusive to the Apple Watch Pro, with the standard models in the Series 8 lineup to stick with the current approach.

The device is expected to see the daylight next month, though it’s not yet known if the company plans to begin selling it in late September or if a delay could hit its launch.
