2015 Apple Watch demo unit reveals unreleased tidbits

The Apple Watch has become the number one smartwatch out there, and Apple is continuously looking into ways to maintain this strong sales trend, not only with new features but also with fresh models.

And in addition to the regular Apple Watch lineup, the company has been exploring all kinds of other versions, and this is how the SE ended up hitting the shelves in the first place.

But as it turns out, there’s a chance the Cupertino-based tech giant also planned a Pro version of the Apple Watch at one point, though as we all know already, this one never came to be.

Twitter account @AppleDemoYT, for example, has recently come across some very interesting references to a so-called Apple Watch Pro on a demo unit of the 2015 Apple Watch. There’s also a logo of an unreleased Apple Watch model, so most likely, Apple has long been planning an expansion of the smartwatch lineup.

But right now, a Pro version is still nowhere to be seen, and it’s not exactly clear if Apple is still planning to release such a model or not.

Major overhaul coming next year

In the meantime, however, Apple is still believed to be working on a massive overhaul of the standard Apple Watch that was supposed to land this year but which will eventually get to see the daylight in 2022.

This is because the work on this massive refresh didn’t necessarily advance as expected, so the new Apple Watch without curved edges and flat sides a la iPhone 12 was eventually delayed to 2022.

As a conclusion, Apple hasn’t abandoned the idea of bringing this massive visual refresh to the Apple Watch, only that it needs more time to make it happen. And this is going to happen next year when the Apple Watch Series 8 gets to see the daylight.
