Apple launched the iPhone 14 lineup with several changes, including the addition of the so-called Dynamic Island on the Pro models.

On the other hand, the standard iPhones continue to use the notch, something that will obviously push some customers to Pro models.

However, Apple apparently wants to bring the Dynamic Island to all models with the release of the iPhone 15 generation, which as per the company’s typical calendar should happen in September 2023.

Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, says Apple is already working on expanding the availability of the Dynamic Island to the entire lineup next year.

“Dynamic Island expected on standard models on the 15. Still not expecting 120Hz/LTPO on standard models as supply chain can’t support it,” Ross Young explained.

Apple praising the Dynamic Island

Apple launched the Dynamic Island with much fanfare, explaining that it’s an innovation that doesn’t impede the content on the screen, while also offering extra capabilities.

“The Dynamic Island enables new ways to interact with iPhone, featuring a design that blends the line between hardware and software, adapting in real time to show important alerts, notifications, and activities. With the introduction of the Dynamic Island, the TrueDepth camera has been redesigned to take up less of the display area,” Apple says.

“Without impeding content on the screen, the Dynamic Island maintains an active state to allow users easier access to controls with a simple tap-and-hold. Ongoing background activities like Maps, Music, or a timer remain visible and interactive, and third-party apps in iOS 16 that provide information like sports scores and ride-sharing with Live Activities can take advantage of the Dynamic Island.”

The iPhone 15 lineup is also expected to include four different models, though given we’re very far from the moment when the rollout would kick off, such details can always change overnight.
