Two weeks after releasing the first iOS 11.4, macOS High Sierra 10.13.5, tvOS 11.4, and watchOS 4.3.1 betas, Apple seeded today the second beta builds to registered developers.

The iOS 11.4 beta 2 (15F5049c), tvOS 11.4 beta 2 (15L5546a), and watchOS 4.3.1 beta 2 (15T5545b) software updates are now available for installation on enrolled devices if they're running the first beta release. Developers can install the new betas right now through the OTA (Over-the-Air) update system.

If you don't have the previous iOS 11.4, tvOS 11.4, or watchOS 4.3.1 beta installed on your devices dedicated to iOS, tvOS, and watchOS beta software development, you can download and install the current beta profiles from the Downloads section on your Apple Developer account.

What's new in iOS 11.4 beta 2

With the iOS 11.4 software update, Apple is introducing a new feature called Messages in iCloud, which was promised to users during last year's WWDC event. The feature will be automatically enabled for users who have activated iCloud Backup and two-factor authentication.

"iOS 11.4 beta includes Messages in iCloud for testing and evaluation purposes. Messages will prompt users to turn on Messages in iCloud on first launch after upgrading to iOS 11.4 beta, said Apple in the internal release notes for iOS 11.4 beta 2.

The iOS 11.4 beta 2 release addresses a few bugs in the AirPlay feature that make audio streams to lag behind a couple of seconds when playing a video with the YouTube app, as well as to play only audio when streaming videos from the YouTube app to an Apple TV device.

Other than that, iOS 11.4 beta 2 fixes a music playback issue in the Music app under certain circumstances where playback could stop at the end of the first track, as well as a Keychain bug that makes the shared web credentials API always to return the "Autofill disabled" error message.

New Public beta versions should be available shortly

We expect Apple to release new public beta versions of its iOS 11.4 beta 2 and tvOS 11.4 beta 2 software updates for public beta tester in the next 24 hours. Those interested in running iOS, macOS and tvOS beta software can enroll their devices in the Apple Beta Software Program.

The iOS 11.4, tvOS 11.4, and watchOS 4.3.1 SDKs provide support for developing iOS, tvOS, and watchOS apps for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV, and Apple Watch devices. The SDKs also come bundled with the latest Xcode 9.4 beta, which is available for download from the Apple Developer Program download page.

Update 17/04/18: Apple released the second public beta versions of iOS 11.4 and tvOS 11.4, along with the second macOS High Sierra 10.13.5 beta to registered developers, which should also be available for public beta testing in the next few hours.
