Apple today released the fifth beta of its upcoming iOS 12, macOS Mojave 10.14, tvOS 12, and watchOS 5 operating systems to registered developers via the company's Apple Developer portal.

Continuing the two-week release schedule, the iOS 12 beta 5 (16A5339e), macOS Mojave 10.14 beta 5 (18A347e), watchOS 5 beta 5 (16R5334f), and tvOS 12 beta 5 (16J5334e) builds are now available for installation on all supported devices running the previous beta 4 release via OTA (Over-the-Air) updates or directly from the Apple Developer portal.

This time, Apple synced the beta 5 release for all four operating systems and also released the Xcode 10 beta 5 IDE (Integrated Development Environment), which includes the latest iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS SDKs (Software Development Kits) so that developers can get their apps ready for the final iOS 12, macOS Mojave 10.14, watchOS 5, and tvOS 12 releases.

What's new in beta 5 of iOS 12, macOS Mojave 10.14, watchOS 5, and tvOS 12

As expected, Apple's engineers continue to improve the upcoming iOS 12, macOS Mojave 10.14, watchOS 5, and tvOS 12 operating systems by addressing issues and bugs. The fifth beta of iOS 12 fixes an App Store error message that could pop-up during app installs, and repairs the inaccurate cellular signal status bar indicator on the iPhone X on both the home and lock screens.

It also fixes a bug with the Cellular Data section under Settings -> Cellular to no longer refresh continuously, updates the new Screen Time app to correctly sync usage data and settings across all your devices, improves the Wallet app to no longer exits when launched, and improves Siri Shortcuts to work with CarPlay and support restores from iCloud backups.

The macOS Mojave 10.14 beta 5 update adds better brightness settings support for the new 15-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar (2018) models when graphics processes run only on the discrete GPU, improve the Dashboard to no longer display visual artifacts or quit when enabling the Calendar widget, and improves support for some app when using the Markup Toolbar or the Colors window.

Other changes in macOS Mojave 10.14 beta 5 include kernel debugging and Audio Video Bridging (AVB) support via Ethernet, support for British English, Australian English, Canadian French, and Hong Kong Chinese (Traditional) locales, displaying Mail app's navigation arrows in Dark Mode when printing a route, and the ability to clear the search field in Photos by clicking the "x" button.

On the other hand, watchOS 5 beta 5 brings correct displaying of card art on the Apple Watch or in the Watch app on the paired iPhone device, improved initial pairing with an iPhone, and an updated Phone app that won't crash when tapping the call button within a contact. tvOS 12 beta 5 adds platform switching support for Switch Control and location info support in Aerials, among several other bug fixes.

Apple also released today the beta 3 update of the Classroom 2.3 app for iPad devices, as well as the third beta of the Classroom 1.0 app for macOS. Developers can install the new beta versions on their registered devices, but keep in mind only to deploy them on devices dedicated for iOS, macOS, watchOS or tvOS beta software development.

The public beta 4 of iOS 12, macOS Mojave 10.14, and tvOS 12 are expected in the coming days too.
