Apple has updated its App Store statistics page for developers to inform them about the current adoption rate of the latest iOS 11 mobile operating system on supported devices.

According to Apple, the latest iOS 11 mobile operating system is now being used on 76 percent of supported iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices. The last update was back in January when iOS 11 was installed on 65% of all supported devices, which means that it saw a growth of only 11 percent in three months.

On the other hand, the chart also shows that the unsupported iOS 10 mobile operating system is being used on 19 percent of devices, compared to 28 percent in January 2018, which means that 9 percent of users decided to upgrade to iOS 11. This data was measured by the App Store on April 22, 2018.

Moreover, it would appear that the number of iPhone, iPad, and iPod devices that were signed into the App Store during the past three months and used an earlier version of Apple's iOS mobile operating system declined with 2 percent, from 7 percent in January 2018 to 5 percent in April 2018.

iOS 11 can still reach 100% adoption before the release iOS 12

We said it before, and we'll say it again, iOS 11 has all the chances to reach 100 percent adoption on supported iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices before the release of the next major version, iOS 12, later this fall if this trend is kept in place, but only if Apple will keep releasing point releases with new features and security fixes.

The next scheduled iOS 11 point release is iOS 11.4, which is currently in beta testing and should be out sometime in mid-May 2018. This summer, Apple will announce the major iOS 12 release during the WWDC 2018 event, which takes place in San Jose, California, United States, between June 4-8. iOS 12 will be available in September 2018.
